The Shuttlers Refresh for Mastery retreat location became the ultimate destination after weeks of intense strategic planning and meticulous preparation. The excitement was palpable as the team arrived in groups, transported on board Shuttlers' buses. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of exhilaration as everyone was eager to begin the retreat.
In light of the recent success of raising $4 million in equity funding, it was essential to hold a retreat that would bring everyone together and ensure that they were all aligned with the next level of the business. The retreat served as an opportunity for the team to convene, share ideas, and, most importantly, take time to refresh their minds and prepare themselves for the work ahead with a renewed sense of mastery.
The event kicked off with team members doing a tour of the facility, after which they had lunch before checking into their rooms. After a quick refresh, they showed up for a planned movie under the stars. But that quickly turned into games and an overall fun night! This was an amazing opportunity to get to know some of the team members even better. Who would have thought Nicholas had a career in music and Ifey could be a professional backup dancer?
The following morning, the team headed out to get their bellies filled with the variety of food options available to them, after which they went about their business for the day. They had a vision casting session, where the Co-founders, Dami and Ak reintroduced the business to the team. The goal of this session was to ensure that the team was in alignment with the vision and mission of Shuttlers. “This was such an eye-opening experience for me; I can see even better how each employee’s role ties into the bigger picture of what we’re building here at Shuttlers,” said Olawunmi, when asked how the session was.
After lunch, the team reassembled for games. This featured games like Ludo, Fifa, Scrabble, Jenga, etc. It's safe to say that everybody was a winner 🤭. The team dispersed after that and went to their individual lodges to recuperate and get ready for the exciting bonfire night. “The bonfire night has to be the highlight for me,” said Ololade. The bonfire night was hosted by two amazing people, the Head of Marketing, Yinka, and the Head of Partnerships, Ebuka. The employees knew they were in for a swell time when they saw that these two were the hosts. The seating style was in a semi-circle around the fire and the stage. The hosts gave a quick introduction, but with a twist. They made each team member state their middle names, and thats how they were addressed the entire night. After which, musical chairs game and a host of other fun games happened. It was such a fun night that ended with everybody dancing and in high spirits. I truly see why the bonfire night was the highlight for so many team members.
Upon reaching out to a number of team members about their overall experience, instructive, fun, eye-opening, renewed-sense-of-purpose were some of the words used to describe it. It is safe to say the team members truly had a refreshing time at the retreat, and they are ready to keep up with the level of mastery needed to remain the mobility industry's market leader.
